EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS), owned by the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), provides training for over 1700 students.

 CUHAS is currently running programmes in Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Masterof Medicine (MMED), Master in Public Health (MPH), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education (B.Sc.NED), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N), Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences (BMLS), Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences (DPS), Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences (DMLS) and Diploma in Diagnostic
Radiography (DDR).

CUHAS is looking for highly qualified and motivated persons to fill the following
positions:

TUTORIAL ASSISTANT/ASSISSTANT LECTURER IN  PHARMACOGNOSY AND MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY

1. Assistant lecturer in Pharmacognosy/ Medicinal Chemistry

Qualifications for Assistant Lecturer

Holder of a Master’s Degree in Pharmacognosy/ Medicinal Chemistry, Undergraduate Degree in B.Pharm or BSc in Chemistry/ BSc in Botany; with at least Three years working experience after acquiring the Master’s degree.
Must be below 50 years of age.

2. Tutorial Assistant in Pharmacognosy/ Medicinal Chemistry

Holder of a Degree in B.Pharm, BSc in Chemistry/ Pharmacognosy. Must be below 35 years of age.

Duties for Assistant Lecturer in Pharmacognosy/ Medicinal Chemistry Teaching

• All candidates are expected to deliver high quality teaching, at undergraduate level.
• Candidates must be able to deliver and teach courses in Pharmacognosy/ Medicinal Chemistry.
• Design, plan and implement effective and inclusive teaching and supporting learning activities.
• Teach across a range of modules/ units or within a subject area using appropriate teaching,
learning support and assessment methods and technologies.
• Assess the work and progress of students and provide
them with constructive feedback.
• Develop ideas for improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and
obtaining and analyzing feedback.
• Engage in professional development in relation to teaching, learning and assessment, including the use of an evidence
informed approach, which utilizes the outcomes of research
and scholarship, to enhance practice.
• Contribute to outreach and/or Widening Participation activity within the Department, School or University.

Research
• Establish own area of independent research linked to existing public health research within the School and the University.
• Ensuring a commitment to highest standards of ethics and integrity in research.
• Identify sources of funding and secure funding for own research
 programme.
• Write papers and submit for publication in leading research journals and/or leading national/international conference proceedings or other
outputs as appropriate to the discipline.
• Present research at national and/or international conferences and/ or at other appropriate events.
• Supervise undergraduates and postgraduate research students as required.
• Engage effectively to maximize the impact of research, via knowledge or exchange, public and policy engagement activities, involving a range of partners and external organizations.
• Any other duties as may be assigned by Dean and/ or high authorities as deemed necessary.

• Successful candidates for both posts will be offered a competitive package as befits their qualifications and experience, as per CUHAS Scheme of Service.
