In One on its Country portfolio, Hefer nternational Tanzania is currently inplementing the VSF- Maisha Bora project in 15 villages in Simanjiro and Logido with funding from VSF. Maisha Bora aim at households having their livestock Livelihoods secured and can benefit more from livestock products.
Two sub results will be addressed which are (i) Equitable access and sustainable use of livestock resources securing a progressive form of pastoralism and
 (ii) Improved productivity and quality of animals and the safety of their products
Country Program is seeking to recruit competent candidate for the following position for its VSF MAISHABORA Project.

Job Title: Project Officer, Maisha Bora Reports to : Senior Program Manager

Location: Arusha, Tanzania.

Function:
The Project Officer is responsible for providing strategic and technical support regarding the implementation of all field operations relating to good livestock husbandry including bee keeping, production and overall animal wellbeing, carrying out field capacity building to stakeholders, organizing groups for input supplies (veterinary drugs and feeds) and writing progress reports Essential Character Traits:

RESPONSIBILITIES (including approximate percentage effort
Resource management of project material and finance (20%).
• Ensure data and information with regards to original placement and passing (including approximate percentage effort on the Gift of livestock and other resources are all made available for learning, adaptation, and donor reporting as per given timeframe, scope and budget and other resources

Project planning, coordinating and implementation( 35%)
• Prepare result oriented annual works plans and budgets with the recommendations from in house monitoring reviews and mid-or other external evaluations.
• Provide strategic technical assistance to both Project Supervisors and farmers on issues pertaining to animal husbandry (feeding. housing and disease control) and breeding and offer appropriate follow-up measures.
• Facilitate and coordinate trainings in all aspects of crop/ livestock production and well-being.
• Facilitate and coordinate purchase of bulls and reinforce livestock disease prevention and control programs.

Project planning, coordinating and implementation (35%).

Ensure program effectiveness support to resource mobilization teams (10%).
• Assure availability of information. and consistency in the technical areas of project management, monitoring, learning, evaluation and reporting as required to meet resource mobilization staff needs.
• Ensure participation in project proposal development and in developing winning grassroots development project proposals for funding.

Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture/Animal Science.
 Veterinary Medicine or related fields. plus at least three (3) years of field experience in agriculture/rural development projects
