RESEARCH ASSISTANTS - (20) - RIGHT START PROGRAM (MNHN, IYCN AND WIFAS)
Nutrition International, AMREF, TFNC and LGA implements three interventions for the Right Start
Programs in Simiyu and Mwanza regions of Tanzania
: Maternal Newborn Health & Nutrition (MNHN);
Infant & Young child Nutrition (IYCN); and Weekly Iron & Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS). Right
Start Program plans to conduct a rapid assessment in Mwanza and Simiyu which will focus on
quantitative indicators for the three programs. Results from the rapid assessment will guide prog
ram
implementation and development of the BCC strategy.
JOB OBJECTIVE:-
Research assistant is an essential job that requires research skills. Research Assistants works to
support the researcher and are responsible for; carry out research projects by collecting, gathering,
and summarizing information through the use of multiple research methods
. Ensure high quality of
data collected and reports to the supervisor on daily basis as well as carrying out other assigned tasks.
Amref Health Africa seeks to
recruit Research Assistants for a rapid assessment be conducted in
Mwanza and Simiyu regions whose key
responsibilities will include;
Key Responsibilities:
·        Maintain fidelity of the study by ensuring that study protocol is adhered to.
·        Maintain confidentiality of provided information and participants
·        Oversee smooth running of study activities at the site
·        List and interview survey participants
·        Work closely with study supervisor to maintain fidelity and keep record of any deviation in
study protocol and report to the study coordin
ator
·        Report daily to the supervisor on study progress including number of interviews conducted
and in case of any problem
·        Validate quality of data elements/data editing in the data collection tool before submitting to
the data base
.
·        Keep record of information obtained during research, including notes taken and transcripts
·        Keep data collection tools (tablet, paper questionnaires, tape recorders etc.)

·       Conduct all duties related to study, including logistics i\\nd communication with study
participants
·       Attend to other duties assigned by team supervisor and or study coordinator

PROFFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
·       Certificate or diploma in social sciences, a degree in relevant field is an added advantage
·       At least two year experience in qualitative and quantitative studies
·       Demonstrable experience with quantitative and qualitative studies
·       Demonstrable experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
·       Ability to work independently good interpersonal and communication skills
·       Ability to work with people from all backgrounds
·       Proven Integrity and mature personality
·       Ability to communicate with community members in Mwanza and Simiyu
·       Understand local language in Mwanza and Simiyu
