Summary
Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) is a Tanzania based non-governmental Institute with a
mission of developing and sustaining Health Research and Resource Institute capable of
generating new knowledge and relevant information for public health policy and action.

IHI is one of the leading research outfits in Africa maintaining collaboration with several
other research Institutes in the world.
IHI is looking for a skilled HR officer who will join our team in overseeing all aspects of
human resources practices and processes. The position involves addressing issues
raised by current employees and new-hires, organizing and scheduling orientations and
coordinating other HR functions such recruitment, placement, improving and reinforcing
HR polices processes and practices, providing support to scientific teams as assigned by
the HR Manager.

The day to day duties for the position will involve but not limited to the following:-
• Ensure that regular updates are being done to the staff database
• Ensure monthly staff report is submitted to the HR Manager
• Custodian of personnel files who makes sure that all necessary documents are filed
in the respective files.
• Ensure all employee information’s are regularly captured into the HRIS in accuracy
manner.
• Liaise with unit leaders and grants officer before issuing any employment contract
• Prepare staff contracts and ensure signed contracts are filed in employee’s personal
files.
• Coordinate the staff recruitment process in terms of preparing terms, advertisement,
short listing of qualified applicants, placement and induction of new staff.
• Ensure that collaborators or foreign employees have valid work permits as stipulated
by the law of the country.
• Ensure each employee is enrolled to the social security scheme and monthly
contributions are being remitted in timely manner.
• Ensure processing of social security withdrawal forms for terminated or retired
employees or beneficiaries.
• Process leaves for employees and ensure that leave payments are made and
records of payment are properly filled.
• Keep track of all medical expenses for staff including (processing of medical claims,
issuing sick sheet and advice staff on the sick leave procedures).
• Process Maafa fund for staff in case death happens.

Qualifications and Experience
Degree / post graduate in Human Resources, Sociology, business Administration, Law
