Founded in 1950, CUAMM focuses on designing health system strengthening projects, with particular attention to the needs of women and children, and tailored to the specific needs of the countries where the organization carries out projects. Through its evidence based approach, CUAMM works to remove the barriers preventing communities from accessing health services, and to improve the quality of the same services, to achieve accessible, quality and equitable healthcare for everyone.
CUAMM is currently looking for highly qualified candidates to fill the following positions:

Project Name:
Accelerating Stunting Reduction Programme in Iringa and Njombe Regions

Reporting to:
Senior Field Officer (1st supervisor)
Project Manager (2nd supervisor)

Position Summary:
CUAMM is seeking to employ a community development officer with strong field experience in implementing health/nutrition SBCC programs. The filed officer is responsible for the good implementation of project nutrition activities at community level, as per workplan.
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the Senior Field Officer and the Project Manager to improve the capacity of Community Health Workers to detect and refer cases of malnourished children and provide nutrition counselling. S/he is co-responsible to maintain good relationships with government counterparts and others stakeholders at local and District level and, particularly, with national institutions at village, ward, district and regional level.

Duty Station:
Njombe (travelling to Iringa as needed)

Expected Deliverables:
ER 1: Contribute to the good accomplishment of the expected outcomes and output of the project.
ER 2: Project activities at district and community levels are correctly implemented as per activities’ workplan, and monitored.
ER 3: Education and awareness activities are able to promote changes in behaviours and best practices in nutrition at community level, creating demand for nutrition services and increasing the sensibility and knowledge on nutrition issues.

Specific Tasks:
 Support the Project manager in planning, monitoring and coordinating field activities;
 Conduct field visits;
 Prepare reports and analyses;
 Monitoring the data collection process in collaboration with the PM;
 Providing support on early detection of SAM at community level, and ensure that good nutrition practices (maternal nutrition and IYCF) are adopted and sustained, for the prevention of Stunting at community level;
 Ensure effective referral systems along the continuum of care for the project beneficiaries;
 Organize training activities for CHWs and CHWs supervisors
 Distribute tools and economic incentives to CHWs and CHWs supervisors
 Plan, organize and ensure that mapping activities are correctly done and that they meet the project’s expected targets;
 Collaborate to the operational research
 Organize the IEC activities at village level
 Strengthen communication and collaboration with district and ward LGAs to ensure ownership and sustainability of the program;
 Remains up-to- date with latest methodologies, best practices, and donor requirements


in nutrition and other related health programs;
 As part of the team, he/she will contribute to CUAMM’s general Mission and Goals.

Required Qualifications/Experience:
 Bachelor degree in community development, sociology, anthropology, and rural development (Nutrition-specific qualifications will be considered a plus);
 At least 3 years of working experience in dealing with community health/nutrition;
 Previous work experience in an international NGO is an asset;
 Proven proficiency in oral/written English;
 Computer literacy in MS Office and Internet;
 Previous working experience with donor funded projects.
 Deep knowledge of Njombe region’ territory.

Languages:
 Proven proficiency in oral/written English.

Contract Duration:
12 months, renewable (3 months trial period)
