About the Programming and Training Assistant Position :
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the management of PC/Tanzania's Programming Unit under the direction of the Director of Programming and in close collaboration with then Grants Coordinator.
The Programming and Training Assistant works with the Grants Coordinator to publicize and provide guidance and on-going support to Peace Corps
Volunteers who, together "with their host communities, wish to apply for or have successfully applied for various types of small grants.

Responsibilities Include:

• Participate in the training of Peace Corps Volunteers and their counterparts to enable them to design and implement participatory community-based projects.

• Support the administrative requirements of the Grants Office; Ensure that grants comply with proper procedures and documentation, and that files are clear and updated;

•Work with the Grants Coordinator to ensure timely approval of applications.
The position is based in Dar es Salaam and reports to the Director of Programming and Partnerships. The work hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30am to 5:00 pm, and
Friday 7:30am to 11 :30 pm, with additional hours planned during training periods.
The Programming and Training Assistant may be required to spend up to 30 percent of work time traveling and must be willing to travel on weekends and national holidays, if required.

Requirements
Education: Post secondary education required, a .university degree preferred, with minimum three years of related work experience.

Skills and Abilities: 
Excellent verbal and written English and Kiswahili; strong computer skills (Outlook Calendar, Mail, Word; Page Layout or similar for newsletter); copy & fax machine operation; translation of short documents and correspondence; ability to maintain efficient paper and electronic filing systems; accuracy in math; strong
organization, time management, & cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as a team member, take initiative, exercise flexibility, and maintain confidentiality on sensitive matters.
