To further advance our internal organization, APOPO is currently recruiting a fulltime IT and Systems Manager (M/F) to start as soon as possible.
In this key role, you’ll make sure we are working with the best possible IT infrastructure, systems and applications to deliver on our objectives.

ROLE TITLE IT and Systems Manager 

 Home based with occasional travel to the programs and HQ

1. Understand and contribute to APOPO’s vision
2. Translate vision into digital and technical platforms
3. Maintain and develop systems
4. Ensure stability, performance, and security of APOPO’s platforms
5. Work as part of an international team

 • Solid foundation of work experience in a similar position
• Working knowledge and experience of SQL, PHP, and other languages
• Proficiency with Google Analytics and data analysis
• Experience in managing secure online payment flows
• Ability to formalize concepts into clear models
• Excellent written communication skills
• Good verbal communication skills
• Fluency in English
• Ability to train and coach non IT staff
• Ability to interact with all levels of personnel, both technical and nontechnical
• Experience working for an NGO desired
 Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related Technology
and the willingness to learn on a daily basis
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Contribute to the overall ICT strategy
Set up the strategic plan in close collaboration with the marketing team and in line with
APOPO’s long term strategy;
Set up and lead IT projects that accompany the strategic development of APOPO;
Define and implement ICT policies, procedures, and best practices.

Lead, maintain and support APOPO’s ICT systems, solutions and services across
the organization

Deliverables
Ensure the smooth operation of the ICT technical infrastructure in alignment with the
business objectives of APOPO;
Work closely with the management team to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and
support cost-effective technology solutions.

3 Provide technical ICT expertise and support to the organization
Provide support to all users, listening to concerns and identifying issues, finding and
implementing solutions;
Develop, in liaison with HR, a formalized training program for all users with the aim of
raising skills, standards and awareness in the use of ICT applications and promoting
consistency across the organization.

Advise and lead ICT procurement requirements
Deliverables
Be responsible for the full IT procurement management lifecycle;
Liaise with vendors and service providers to select the products or services that best meet
the organization’s goals;
Oversee the preparation and award of contracts, evaluation of suppliers, and the
reception.
 Ensure the stability and performance of APOPO’s technical infrastructure

Guarantee the smooth running of all ICT systems, including anti-virus software and email
provision, as well as any other collaboration tools;
Schedule upgrades of software systems;
Be accountable for system backups and archiving;
Maintain CiviCRM and other integrations that enable APOPO’s website;
Develop system security policies and quality control procedures in accordance with
accepted good practice;
Ensure the stability and performance of the organization’s online and offline
payment/donation solutions;
Be responsible for the development of a modern and effective data collection system.

 ICT administration and reporting
Deliverables
Be responsible for the full license management;
Manage the full IT inventory & asset lifecycle;
Assist in the administration of all ICT related projects;
Maintain the reporting data cube;
Maintain the reporting dashboard.

Be an active member of the management team
Deliverables
In conjunction with CFO and CEO, set, agree and monitor the ICT budgets;
Participate in the marketing meetings and provide required technical expertise to all online
fundraising initiatives;
Report any concerns regarding the stability and performance of APOPO’s technical
infrastructure;
Perform specific analysis tasks on demand from the management team;

Provide monthly, campaign and quarterly management reporting.
