Amref Health Africa in Tanzania is largely supported by Multilateral, Corporate, Bilateral and National donors, implementing several programmes including HIV/AIDS/TB/Malaria, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Water and sanitation, Capacity Building, Laboratory strengthening and clinical outreach. PROJECT OFFICERS (2) – MNHN (MATERNAL AND NEWBORN AND NUTRITION) AND IYCN (INFANT NEWBORN AND CHILD NUTRITION: BASED IN MWANZA/SIMIYU REPORTS

TO: THE PROJECT MANAGER

JOB OBJECTIVE:-
The Project Officer will undertake all day-to-day implementation of activities as elaborated in weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual plans under close supervision of the Project Manager. S/he will provide required quality technical skills and guidance to project team, partners and stakeholders in implementation of the MNHN and IYCN projects
Key Responsibilities:
▪ Work closely with Regional and District Nutrition Officer (R/DNuO) and RCH Coordinators in the project districts in the establishment and coordination of defined project activities in Mwanza and Simiyu.
▪ Spearhead training and other capacity building activities for health service providers of different cadres in health facilities of the project districts as required by the project.
▪ Spearhead training and other capacity building activities for community health workers in the project districts as required by the project.
▪ Work closely with R/DNuO and other CHMT members in identification, quantification, ordering/re-ordering of required vaccines and related commodities as per agreed plans.
▪ Provide day-to-day technical support to partners and field officers.
▪ Work with Project Manager in ensuring adequate support is provided to the Regional/Council Health Management Teams to ensure comprehensive delivery of project activities.
▪ Actively participate in District council health planning, supervisory, training and monitoring activities to ensure project activities are aligned to and harmonized within district systems.
▪ Provide on-site mentoring, quality assurance and refresher training to health service providers available in health facilities.
▪ Participates in development of strategic and regular work plans for the project
▪ Prepare and submit reports on all project activities implemented and other reports as relevant.
▪ Carry out other activities as may be assigned to him/her by the Project Manager


PROFFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
▪ Higher diploma or basic degree in Nutrition, Nursing, Medicine or other health related fields.
▪ Postgraduate degree in the above field will be an added advantage.
▪ Two years’ experience in public health interventions. Professional work experience in the area of
RMNCH
▪ Having worked in the district health system will be highly desirable
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
▪ Ability to work independently good interpersonal and communication skills
▪ Ability to work with people from all backgrounds
▪ Proven Integrity and mature personality

PROJECT ASSISTANT – WIFAS (WEEKLY IRON AND FOLIC ACID SUPPLEMENTATION):

BASED IN MWANZA/SIMIYU REPORTS TO: THE PROJECT OFFICER

JOB OBJECTIVE:-
The Project Assistant will support the project team to undertake all day-to-day implementation of activities as elaborated in weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual plans under close supervision of the Project Manager. He/she will provide required quality coordination skills and support to project team, partners and stakeholders in implementation of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
▪ Provide organizational support to projects activities undertaken by the project team as necessary including arrangement of all necessary logistics for projects activities such as workshops, trainings and supervision.
▪ Draft project activity budgets and prepare all logistics for the activity, coordinate travel needs, schedules and meetings. Maintain important project deadline to ensure project milestones are attained timely
▪ Assist project team in planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation of project activities. Compile monthly project plans, maintain an updated plan and update implementation status monthly.
▪ Keep records of all information related to project for documentation and maintain project file system.
▪ Maintain effective communication system and ensure information flow between project and relevant parties. Maintain contact list of all project stakeholders
▪ Perform any other duties as reasonable requested by supervisors and in line with organizational priorities 


PROFFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
