The National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) is the largest public health research

institution in Tanzania. It was established by the Parliamentary Act No. 23 of 1979 as a

parastatal organization under the Ministry of Health. The establish of NIMR was in

recognition by the government of the need to generate scientific information required

in the development of better methods and techniques of enhancing disease

management} prevention and control in the country.

Our Mission:

To conduct coordinate, regulate and promote scientifically and ethically sound,

high quality health research and deliver evidence-based information that is

responsive to the needs of human wellbeing.

The National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR)} Mwanza centre in collaboration

with Abts Associates is conducting entomological monitoring of indoor residual

spraying in the Lake Victoria basin} Tanzania. The project is currently looking for

suitably qualified individual to fill the following vacant position:

Insectary/Animal house assistant (2 Post)

Required Qualifications and experience:

·        Ordinary Certificate of Secondary Education with at least D in Science subject

·        Fluent in English and Kiswahili language

·        Working experience in Entomology research will be an added advantage

although not compulsory.

·        Be ready to learn} motivated, committed and he/she can work under minimum

supervision.

Job descriptions:

·        To receive} sort and archiving mosquito samples and record results

·        To take care of guinea pigs/rabbits and mosquitoes

·        To complete accurately study documents and forms following methods

described in appropriate study SOPs

• Participate in other tasks and duties assigned by Supervisor

General conditions:
