Community Relation Officer Position Description:

STAMIGOLD Company Limited - Biharamulo Mine is a subsidiary company of the State Mining Corporation (STAMICO) operating a gold mine. The Mine is located in the Biharamulo Forest Reserve, South West of Mwanza in Kagera Region. In order to run the mine effectively and efficiently, the Company invites applications from qualified candidates to fill the existing vacancy as detailed below:

Work Roster-6/3(42 days on, 21 days off)

Contract Duration : Not Exceeding 2 years, subject to renewal

The Role
Carrying out community relations activities including local communities' notification & liaison, issues management, and to assist in reviewing community relations programs, materials and practices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Engages in effective community consultation

·         Builds trust between the company, community and other stakeholders

·         Forges strategic partnership with local, district or government, local and internal institutions, NGOs, CBOs Communities and other development partners.

·         Carries projects work at project site (physical participation in community projects) and reports proceedings to the head of department.

·         Helps to monitor, evaluate and recommend changes to community development programs and practices at different levels.

·         Pays regular visits to community project sites with the aim of assessing the status of the project implementation as well as care and maintenance.

·         Participates in the ward development meetings and any other meeting as may be instructed to attend by the departmental supervisor.

·         Interprets the community programs and projects as per Community Action Plan (CAP) to the company and ensure that the community participate in the implementation.

·         To be involved in the initiation, support, and administering community training programs and arranging community meetings and tours.

·         Planning of practical work programs and organization or mobilization of resources that may help in supporting the
implementation of community work in and around the mine site.

·         Liaise with local government, groups and organizations and interested individuals in community project Implementation.
Assist the site in planning, managing and implementing community development projects.

·         Carries out any other relevant duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Professional Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor degree in social sciences or related field.
A minimum of three years' experience in community development sector preferably in dealing with community participation
in poverty alleviation.
