Totohealth is a social enterprise based in Moshi town, Kilimanjaro Region. Our vision is a world where
no woman dies giving life and a world where every child has a fair and equal start to life. Totohealth’s
mission is to make motherhood* a safe and joyful experience. We offer a set of services available over
the span of pregnancy, delivery and up to 5 years of a child’s life.

Our package of solutions include
(1)information, education and communication (IEC) through a interactive text messaging platform,
 (2) lifesaving products including a comprehensive Clean Delivery Pack (CDP) to be used at delivery, and
 (3)Newborn Survival Pack (NSP) with applicable supplies for the mother and for newborn survival for first month of life.
All these services are implemented in partnership with local District Government
Departments, organisations & NGOs with mothers as clients. Our goals is to better provide IEC to parents and caregivers and get mothers to deliver with the help of a skilled birth attendant (at a health facility), and giving them access to products they need at health-facility and household level.

Position description
The Research and Impact Officer (R&I) will support Totohealth in all Research activities necessary to inform product development & research, program monitoring and evaluation. The responsibilities will range from field coordination and planning, research protocol development, research design, tools development, data collection, data management, data cleaning, analysis and report writing.
Research that will be conducted will include formative research to inform program and product design, fieldtesting SMS disability content, development & monitoring of SMS helpdesk, piloting of CDPs and NSPs and monitoring & evaluation (M&E) health outcomes.

Responsibilities
Secure consent from District and Regional health authorities to do field testing and piloting
Coordinate and oversee all research activities in the field ensuring ethical code of conduct
Conduct market research (including product prototyping and customer feedback) including client
satisfaction surveys, desk reviews and other reviews on a needs basis
Present finding to Totohealth management team, providing insight in product development
Develop research protocol, data collection tools & design data management and reporting systems
Train field researchers on tools and data collection protocol for Totohealth
Supervise field research to conduct data collection, data cleaning, data management and data entry
Carry out periodic monitoring and evaluation, reporting and impact analysis
Coordinate and map out monitoring and evaluation activities
Ensure accurate and timely reporting for Totohealth on a monthly basis
Conducting internal data quality checks

Qualifications:
University degree in a social science

Experience and skills
At least 2 years of field research experience
Experience in qualitative and quantitative methodologies and data analysis
Experience on Monitoring & Evaluation
Experience on research design
Experience with working with Regional and District Authorities
Excellent interpersonal skills, including team work and individual excellence
Excellent time management skills
Excellent written, oral and presentation skills in both English and Swahili
Strong computer literacy and presentation skills with excellent command of Excel
