Nursing Officer II-(X8) Position Description:

Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences is inviting applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to be considered for employment to fill vacant posts listed hereunder for MUHAS Academic
Medical Centre (MAMC) at University New Campus of Mloganzilla.

4. Nursing Officer II-8 POSTS

(a) Required Qualifications
Holder of Bsc. Degree in Nursing/Midwifery from a recognized Institution plus successful completion of internship. Must be registered by the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Assesses patient's condition, plan, implement, document and evaluate individualized care using appropriate nursing model and according to the hospital nursing policy.
ii. Provides care according to patho-physiological process of diseases and scientific rationales.
iii. Orders drugs from pharmacy and ward equipment from stores
iv. Ensures all drugs and other treatments are given to the patients as prescribed and observe any adverse condition.
v. Maintains a professional friendly atmosphere and create a dignified environment.
vi. Maintains Therapeutic relationships with patients, their relatives and visitors to enhance the patient's quality of life, dignity and-the good standing of the hospital.
vii. Ensures safe care and custody of patients' property in accordance with the hospital policy. '
viii. Reports any accident/incident, loss or theft to the Senior Nursing Officer and complete necessary statements promptly.
ix. Maintains Health and Safety at work by ensuring that infection prevention and control principles are followed
x. Carries out research on nursing services and implementing the results to improve nursing services.
xi. Adheres to the prescribed inpatients and outpatients' treatment manual and procedures
xii. Critically analyzes nursing/midwifery care to determine appropriate interventions for clients/patients,
xiii. Follows hospital policy in respect of custody and administration of all drugs, with special observation to DDA drugs.
xiv. Supervises the provision of care and documentation by all health workers working under his/her supervision .
xv. Supervises and train subordinates on patients" care and management of equipment and supplies
xvi. Plans and allocate human and other resources as appropriate
xvii. Develops and maintains an updated Human Resource needs profile
xviii. Translates and implement health policies in nursing activities
xix. Conducts clinical teaching to nurse/midwifery students rotating in your unit
xx. Performs any other Duties and Responsibilities within scope of practice as assigned by his/her superiors from time to time

Certificates from foreign Countries should be verified by Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) - {Degree Level} or National Accreditation Council for Technical Education (NACTE) - {Diploma Level} or National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) - {Secondary Education}
