Oak
Foundation is recruiting a Programme Officer for the Child Abuse Programme and
its work in East Africa, who will also have some administrative responsibility
for Oak Foundation’s office in Dar-es-Salaam.

Programme
and Office Management Responsibilities:
-
Scan grant making opportunities to prevent child sexual abuse and
exploitation in Tanzania and the region. Grant making opportunities include
supporting strategic research, piloting innovative approaches to prevention,
and advocacy.

Design, develop and recommend new proposals for trustee consideration.

Manage partner and grantee relationships. Monitor and evaluate grant portfolio on a
regular basis, including through the conduct of site visits.

Contribute to and participate in the strategic development of the
programme and on-going programme learning. Define and outline country and
regional grant making strategies to advance programme goals.

Contribute to the setting of programme budgets and provide input on the
internal allocation of funds.

Represent Oak Foundation in the region, among peer groups and at public
events.

Be the local interface for administrative, tax and legal issues in
Tanzania in coordination with the Administration Team in Geneva and third party
local advisors.
Requirements :
•
Advanced university degree;
•
At least 7 years work experience in violence prevention, public health,
gender-based violence, education, youth empowerment, child protection/children’s
rights or a related field;
•
Successful track record working in dynamic, international environments;
•
Working knowledge of violence prevention, advocacy, research and social
justice;
•
Past work experience in supporting efforts to tackle child and
adolescent sexual abuse and exploitation is highly desired;
•
Working knowledge of the not-for-profit and policy sector with in
Tanzania and in the region;
•
Understanding of non-profit and/or governmental financial reporting and
budgeting;
•
First class communicator and at ease negotiating with senior managers
and leaders;
•
Self starter, multi-tasker and ability to work with distance supervision;
•
Strong analytical, strategic planning skills and excellent writing
skills;
•
Eye for innovation/demonstrated ability to think in new and different
ways;
•
Administrative and financial experience. Management experience and grant
making experience desired;
•
Experience of convening and leading meetings
•
Experience in building strategic partnerships;
•
Willing to travel approx 30-40 days per year in Africa and beyond;
•
Tanzanian national (or resident with work permit);
•
Fluency in written and spoken English, Swahili
and Kiswahili.
