Management and Development for Health (MDH) is a non for profit Tanzanian organization that focuses primarily on making contribution to the nation in addressing public health priorities through evidence based interventions, education and research.
MDH in collaboration with the Harvard T.H.Chan School of Public Health in implements a project that aims at studying the impact and performance of institutionalizing immediate post-partum IUD (PPIUD) services as a routine part of antenatal counselling and delivery room services in Tanzania.
MDH is pleased to announce a call for applications to fill 7 Research Assistant’s positions for the PPIUD project.
Job Summary:
The PPIUD project is ongoing in five regions. The research assistant will play an essential role in data collection for the PPIUD project working closely with the field supervisor, the data manager and study coordinator at MDH and teams at the respective satellite clinics. Seven (7) new research assistants will join a team of 18 research assistants working with the project currently.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To work closely with the field supervisor, and study coordinator for successful implementation of the PPIUD project.
To oversee and ensure smooth recruitment of the clients.
a. Including daily updates on the recruitment status
b. With a support of the field supervisor to resolve any recruitment challenges
To adhere to standard operating procedures as described in the enumerator manual.
To observe research ethics, regulations and bureaucracy at the respective health facility.
c. To report immediately any challenges encountered as they conduct the interviews
d. Meeting with the satellite clinics in charges and RCH coordinator and provide updates on the project progress
To work closely with the field supervisor and the data manager.
e. To undertake routine data cleaning
To alert (phone call) the participants due for follow up one week before the date of the visit.
To perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and other superiors at MDH.
Education and professional qualifications:
o Experience in conducting population health surveys.
o An ability to communicate fluently in both English and Kiswahili.
o A minimum of form six or ordinary diploma, a bachelor’s degree in health and social sciences will be an added advantage.
o Worked as a research assistant in health research projects previously.
o Able to work independently and in multidisciplinary team.
o Committed to work and adherence to work regulations.
o Can maintain confidentiality in all aspects.
Practical experience:
o Previously worked as research assistant in clinical and community settings.
