Within Sub-Saharan Africa, SFCG works in 18 countries: Burundi, Chad, Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.

Summary of Position
Since 2011, SFCG in Tanzania is working to develop Sustainable Business Practice (SBP) in the extractive industry sector. SFCG is currently seeking to recruit a Finance, Administration and Compliance Assistant to handle the financial management, accounting and administrative tasks for the management of SFCG’s activities in Mara, with a view to ensure compliance with SFCG and donor regulations. S/he will maintain accounting systems, support programs with the preparation of budgets, oversee the general cash management of the field office and ensure the timely reconciliation of advances, prepare monthly financial reporting, and provide administrative support for various activities. Based in Mara, the Finance, Administration and Compliance Assistant will report to SFCG Tanzania Financial Administrative Manager, based in Dar Es Salaam.

Responsibilities
To ensure compliance of all operations in Mara with SFCG and donor procedures, as well as Tanzanian law.
To ensure that SFCG financial policies, procedures and forms are shared, understood and respected by all project staffs in the field office, to ensure maximum compliance;
To establish and maintain updated tables of accounts, and assign entries to proper accounts which include Bank book, Petty Cash, Impress form, Advance listings, Cash count and Bank reconciliation;
To perform daily update of Bank/Cash book and Expenditure report.
 To develop and analyze activity budgets and monthly forecasts, comparing solicited prices to actual market prices, and prepare reports comparing budgeted costs to actual costs;
On basis of the planned expenditure, send monthly cash request of the respective office to Financial Administrative Manager
Arranges quarterly  financial projections meeting with program staff and share the feedback with Financial Administrative Manager
To ensure the timely reconciliation of bank accounts, advances, accruals, payroll, severance and ensuring that data in books match data in SFCG’s accounting system, informing the SFCG Financial Administrative Manager of any irregularities;
To prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for the field office, ensuring that all receipts are compliant with SFCG standards and procedures, and sending all original receipts to the Financial Administrative Manager;
To supervise the use of all SFCG funds allocated to the field office, in both fixed and liquid assets, and to report any irregularities directly and without delay to the SBP Program Manager and Financial Manager;
To handle office petty cash in compliance with SFCG standards and procedures;
Provide logistical and administrative support for various activities, including organization of meetings, field activities, contracts for suppliers, and others.
To advise management in areas such as compensations, statutory payments, employee health care benefits, taxes etc;
Take responsibility for filing and monitoring all financial documents for the project in Mara, including the property inventory list;
To assist the SBP Field Coordinator, Program Manager and SFCG’s Financial Administrative Manager with other tasks as needed.


As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or Grants Management.
At least three (2) years of relevant experience working for INGO in finance, accounting and/or grants management positions.
Knowledge of international donors’ major compliance rules and regulations.
Strong spreadsheet and data analysis advanced skills (Microsoft Office, especially Excel, any accounting software, using MS Great Plains Dynamics would be an advantage).
Knowledge of financial controlling / audits considered an asset.
Dynamic, motivated and flexible self­starter leader with creative problem­-solving skills.
Cultural sensitivity.
Spoken and written fluency in English and Swahili.
Willingness to be based in Mara Region.
Duration: 12 month contract with possibility of renewal
