Description

I. Responsibilities

Main Objectives
To produce and supply good quality seed in the correct volumes for commercial department
Oversee the Offloading, conditioning, packaging and rebagging operations by the toller. Inventory control of all the consumables ie.packaging and the chemical treatments.
To recruite, train, contracted seed growers and evaluate field production operations on a regular basis in order to achieve the set targets or goals.
To make sure all field activities are done in a safe manner by the contracted growers
To implement, coordinate and functionalize QMS (ISO 9001) systems in the field operations
Manage the human rights program for the field oprations as per Monsanto Human Right Policy

Specific Functions

Train contract gorowers on Monsanto field production procedures.
To maintain and monitor quality of the grown seed in accordance with the seed cirtification requirements
To recruit good contract growers
Controlling the cost of field production in accordance with the specified budgets
Liaise with seed certifying agents
To implement the human rights program for the field operations as per Monsanto Human Rights Policy
To make sure that contracted growers are following the recommended safety requirements in the field operations
Ensure that procedures on quality are implemented according to the Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) in field production operations
Weekly reporting to the Site Lead
Adhoc tasks
Qualifications

I. Education & Experience
A minimum of 5 years field production experience. Seed production experience is an added advantage.
Degree in Agriculture
· Computer Literate
· Communications skills (excellent verbal and written)
· Internal business administration knowledge
· Creative and innovative


Specialised Knowledge and/or Qualifications

Safety and Quality knowledge
Valid drivers licence

II. Competencies
Ability to supervise people
Must be able to work under pressure
