Vacancies at Health Promotion Tanzania (HDT)

Introduction
Health Promotion Tanzania (HDT) is a local not
for profit non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 2004. Since its
registration, HDT addressed many development issues including poverty
reduction, HIV/AIDS and income generating activities through its three program
areas namely capacity building, service delivery and policy advocacy.
Currently, HDT embarks into improved maternal and child health through
community systems strengthening, policy analysis and advocacy, social
accountability monitoring and institutional strengthening.
HDT is implementing a project on civilian,
community HIV prevention and Home Based Care (HBC) services in Mbinga and Nyasa
Districts. The project will work with local government authorities and
communities to undertake prevention, home based care (HBC) and HIV testing and
counseling (HTC) services in their defined localities. All interventions will
be undertaken within the catchment areas of high volume sites targeting
priority and key populations (in hot spots) while also addressing gender based
violence and violence against children (GBV/VAC). For this reason, HDT is
soliciting potential individuals to work in the project at the position of
Field Officer and Counselor. Description of requirements for each post is
described below.
1. Field Officer (1 post)
Location: Nyasa
District
Job Purpose:
To coordinate Home Based Care activities in the
district and ensure effective referral and documentation of all services
provided to clients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Sensitize the community on importance of
continuity of drug adherence,
Identification of LTFU and return them back to
CTC Services,
Conduct outreach services in Nyasa program
catchment area,
Plan delivery of all Home Based Care services in
accordance with WRP focus and target in Nyasa district,
Oversee weekly and monthly planning of Community
Home Based Care Providers to ensure that the project targets are achieved,
Coordinate and work with District HBC
coordinator to ensure that HBC activities are linked and networked with
district plan for complementarily,
Collect and receive HBC volunteers’ data,
compile on monthly basis and ensure proper documentation and retrieval of data,
Oversee collection and maintenance of HBC
records of the clients for statistical purposes according to the
confidentiality/privacy policy of the donor and organization,
Hold internal meeting with HBC Volunteers to
review program performance
Participate in monthly program management
meetings and Quarterly Quality Improvement sessions,
Compile timely monthly HBC reports for
management and for donor on time,
Liaise and work with HBC Officer to ensure that
HBC activities are conducted in all 13 Wards of Nyasa.
Knowledge and Experience:
Diploma or advanced diploma, Bachelor degree in
social science, Social work, Public health or administration; Experience in
implementing clinical HIV and AIDS work for at least one year, especially
PEPFAR funded projects; Effective oral and written communication skills;
Ability to work flexible hours; Good working knowledge of the program
management related to development; Experience working on participatory
community appraisal approaches; Knowledge of programme design, implementation,
monitoring, and evaluation; Quality and management skills in personnel.
2. HIV Testing and Counseling Counselor (1 post)
Location: Mbinga
District
Job Purpose: To undertake HIV testing and
counseling especially to priority and key population and refer them to
appropriate service centers. The Counselors will be responsible to undertake
targeted HIV testing campaign, targeted door to door HIV testing and making
effective referrals of those found positive to appropriate services and keeping
documentation in line with WRP requirement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Delivery of all HIV testing and counseling
activities in accordance with WRP focus and target in the district and refer
them for appropriate services including escorting them,
Develop and implement weekly and monthly plans
for HIV testing and counseling to ensure that the project targets are achieved,
Liaise and work with District HTC coordinator to
ensure that HTC activities are conducted in all hotspot areas,
Implement HTC at hotspot areas, targeted door to
door activities and operate within the PEPFAR protocol and MoH agreed
algorithm,
Record and maintain stock levels of medical
supplies and reagents and ordering as required.
Knowledge and Experience:
At least Form Four with profession as clinical
assistant, nursing assistant or related clinical courses, HIV counselling
course is an advantage, Knowledge and understanding of HIV national algorithm,
Ability to work flexible hours, Non-judgemental.
