INTRODUCTION

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian
organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. MSF offers assistance to people based on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. MSF is therefore guided by the principles of neutrality and impartiality. These principles must apply to all MSF staff.

Required Criteria

Minimum Educational Qualification

Clinical officer diploma is essential

Experience:
Required - previous clinical supervision experience of at least one year
Desirable - Experience with MSF or other NGO

Languages:
English, Swahili, Kirundi (fluent, oral & written) required, French will be an asset
Main competencies and knowledge

 Desirable computer literacy
 Result, Teamwork and stress management
 Be adaptable to work in Male, Female, paediatric ward, ITFC, and Health posts throughout the camp

Main Responsibilities

 Ensure the implementation and standardization of MSF clinical policies, tools, and hygiene protocols in order to minimize clinical risks and to granting quality of patient case management.
 Promote and maintain confidentiality regarding all patient cases and records
 Implement diagnose, prescription and prevention procedures that fall under the scope of his/her competencies applying medical knowledge, asking appropriate questions to patients and following protocols in force
 Carry out first aid care and treatment according to protocols in case of an emergency in order to reduce mortality rates
 Participate in the planning and supervising, in close coordination with other supervisors
 Refer to the medical doctor when diagnosis, prescriptions or any other case /matter is unclear.
 Be capable of dealing with emergency situations and have sound medical knowledge to manage the situation efficiently.
 Available and willing to participate in trainings.
 Be flexible for any shift (day, night shift).
 Contribute to accurate data collection
 Supervise correct dressings
 Assist nurses with the ‘end of day triage
