 Nurse Specialist II-(X4) Position Description:

Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences is inviting applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to be considered for employment to fill vacant posts listed hereunder for MUHAS Academic
Medical Centre (MAMC) at University New Campus of Mloganzilla.


3. Nurse Specialist II- 4 POSTS

a) . Required Qualifications

Holder of a Masters Degree in any of the Clinical Nursing / Midwifery specialties from a recognized institution and is registered with Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council.
b) Area of Specialization
Critical Care & Trauma Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Pediatric Nursing and Midwifery ,
c) Duties and Responsibilities
I. Manage and coordinate's complex clinical care of patients
II. . Carries out administrative Duties and Responsibilities in his respective working area.
iii. Maintains all nursing standards in compliance with MAMC Policy guidelines.
iv. Supervises the professional work of the staff within the unit in cooperation with the Senior Nursing Officer in accordance with TNMC Code of Conduct.
v. Co-ordinates all nursing services in his/her area including attending referral patients.
vi. Designs and develops models for improving nursing and midwifery services.
vii. Applies advanced clinical reasoning, judgment and in depth knowledge to arrive at a differential diagnosis and determine a comprehensive care plan
viii. Prescribes and administers medicines/drugs according to scope of practice
ix. Teaches, guides and supervises clinical teaching to nursing/midwifery students, nursing staff including preceptors -
x. Utilize scientific evidences to promote development of policies and protocols.
xi. Designs/conducts scientific research for improvement of health care in their specialized area of practice
xii. Publishes and participates in scholarly activities to support prescriptive function of the nurses,
xiii. Maintains and reinforces professional code of ethics and conduct for practice
xiv. Develops and safeguards the implementation of infection and prevention and control (IPC) guidelines and standards
xv. Provides consultancy services in staffing, evaluation and makes recommendations for improvement. '
xvi. Conducts regularly review of procedure manuals, guidelines and policy.
xvii. Develops and revises nursing and maternal services manuals.
xviii. Participates in the evaluation and review of policies and guidelines, and report to the higher authorities matters that affect policy. '
xix. Participates in clinical sessions, patients' presentation and journal clubs
xx. Participates in preparation of budget of the institution
xxi. Prepares Continuing Education Programs for nursing and midwifery personnel.
xxii. 'Performs any other Duties and Responsibilities related to his/her work as assigned by his/ her superior.
