Senior Zonal Project Manager - Lake Zone Position Description:
Position Title: Senior Zonal Project Manager - Lake Zone
Reports to: Project Director, Dar es Salaam
Location: Mwanza
Travel: Up to 50% in intervention regions
Overall Job Function:
The incumbent will be responsible to oversee the overall implementation of an HIV prevention program among adolescent girls and young women and other targeted vulnerable populations in multiple regions of the Lake Zone; S/he will work closely with the Project Director in Dar es Salaam and directly oversee the regional program offices/teams in the Lake Zone.
Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
Oversee and manage overall all regional staff and offices in the Lake Zone implementing a project for adolescent girls and young women and other targeted vulnerable populations so they can successfully:
Plan and coordinate all trainings
Liaise with local stakeholders and local government authorities
Conduct needs assessment, mapping, and other preparatory activities as needed
Liaise with health facilities' staff to develop a strong referral network from community to facility and vice versa
Supervise recruitment and mentoring of outreach workers and lay workers from peer groups
Implement program interventions (such as community based HTC, linkage/referral to health facilities, GBV & gender norms, STI/TB screening, condoms distribution, and family planning) and according to the work plan, targets, and SOPs
Collect and report data on a timely basis without errors
Oversee an existing research project on a combination-prevention evaluation targeting general population
Focal person to liaise with regional level stakeholders on the program and progress of interventions
Liaise with sub-grantees performing in the regions
Perform any other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor
Required Qualification, Knowledge and Skills:
Medical Doctor with clinical background in HIV/AIDS and related diseases
Demonstrated working experiences of a minimum 5 years in community-based HIV prevention and/or sexual and reproductive health (SRH) programs targeting adolescent girls and young women and other vulnerable populations, including at least 3 years demonstrated familiarity working in research and evaluation projects
Demonstrated management experience coordinating large-scale, multi-million donor funded programs with at least 30 staff, with strong supervisory and management skills in leading teams of public health professionals, experience in developing and executing work plans, budgets, reports, etc.
Demonstrated experience working in Lake Zone regions of Tanzania
Required excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili
Excellent computer skills
