In mid-April 2016, NRC conducted a pre-assessment mission in the refugee camps in north western Tanzania and the assessment revealed that the humanitarian situation for the refugees requires urgent intervention and NRC therefore decided to establish an operational office in Kibondo town, to respond in Mtendeli and/or Nduta refugee camps. The initial interventions will focus in three sectors; shelter, WASH and education (initially construction of permanent classrooms).). NRC is therefore seeking a Logistics Assistant, Warehouse for the NRC Office in Kibondo, Tanzania. The Logistics Assistant reports to the Logistics Officer.
Job description
Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
Implement and follow NRC standard warehouse practices and record keeping in accordance with audit trail standards
Maintain accurate stock records and controls at all times; provide weekly and monthly stock reports to the Logistics Officer and advice on warehousing issues that affect the overall logistics operation
Ensure the correct storage and rotation of stocks, as well as proper structural maintenance of warehouse(s) in view of maintaining all stocks in good condition
Liaise with suppliers, transporters, international, governmental and non-governmental counterparts and collaborate where appropriate
Prepare and develop status reports as required by management (i.e. stock reports)
Organise and supervise local incentive workers at the warehouse to ensure timely and efficient receipt and dispatch of goods, and provide training and development as required
Ensure proper filing of documents (i.e. way bills, delivery notes)
Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years’ similar experience from working with Logistics in a humanitarian/recovery context
Relevant educational background combined with professional experience
Managing resources to optimize results
High-level competency in computer skills (Microsoft Office applications)
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Fluency in one or more of the national/regional languages
Education level
College / University, Bachelor's degree
Personal qualities
Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision
Ability to meet deadlines in multi-tasking environments
Ability to engage and motivate staff
Good coordination skills
